Circles of flowers

Hi there , glad you could call in . I have been trying  to
clear out some papers that I have had for so  long .
I have found a pad of specialty papers from    " me& my BIG ideas"

This is the first sheet that I have used from it and I actually can't wait to try some more as they are quite  lovely    patterns.
Can't stay blogging tonight as I have still two kits to make for Sunday. Sorry for appalling  picture , need more practice with camera .
White Gloss card with single layer of patterned paper to start . I placed ribbon around card front  then using some scrap shades of  lavender card , I dry embossed lighter shade before layering it onto other piece. I inked image from SU set , Playful Petals in Groovy Guava , twice so that I could cut centre piece from  one to 3D onto first . I 3D whole flower onto lavender pieces then centred that onto card front . I used a large rhinestone to highlight flower centre.                                                                                                                                                    Hope that you are set for a fantastic weekend
Cheers for now, Shirley-Anne

Joyous Spirit of Christmas

Hello and welcome to my warm, cheerful craft room . It is wet and cold in Adelaide today so here is a good place to be.                                            Thought that I had better add a couple of cards to my Christmas card numbers. Robyn sent out a challenge to create 50 Christmas cards by 1st December. these two will bring my tally to 26.        Recipe for first ; Pacific Point, Naturals Ivory ,        Riding Hod Red   . Brilliant Blue ink for image from Illuminations stamp set.                                         Extra 'J ' for 3D has glitter added.     Red Gingham ribbon from SU

For this card I used frame from SU set Frames With A Flourish  then words and snowflakes from Snow Swirled. Cardstock is Riding Hood Red, So Safron and Whisper White .  Chocolate Chip , Old Olive and Real Red inks.                          Wave edge punch from my collection and Old Olive ribbon from SU. Some glitter and Stampin' Dimensials.                              Robyn's collection can be seen at this link                               http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=19340
How are you going with your Christmas cards ? Have you started yet or is it going to be a mad dash a little later in the year?
Enjoy the rest of your day and  whatever you are up to.

Celebrate

Hello . I am so happy that you could call in . Don't forget to leave me your link so that I can visit you too .                                  Last week I found one of the first stamps I bought years ago and could not resist using it again . It is a simple little dress on a coat hanger , which in this case I have left out .  But I found it a little beauty which could be dressed up or played down . It could be that " little black dress" or if stamped onto gingham paper a cool summer number. It is a stamp Fran's Fashions from STAMPENDOUS.
Spring is a little way of yet but I can  but dream .
I think making  this card shook  of the winter blues for a while .
Recipe ; Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, Whisper White and Bashful Blue.
Ink; Green Galore and Brocade Blue.
Big Shot and embossing folder. Flowers  and brads, from my stash . Stampin' Dimensials.
Hope you like it .
Catch you again soon
Cheers Shirley-Anne

Happy Father's Day

Hello you  , thank goodness it is Friday . Means tomorrow is Saturday . Michelle has her stall in Cairnes tomorrow so I will be hoping she is busy and  has many sales. Good luck Michelle ! Hope that the weather is kind.
Have you a busy weekend ahead of you ? Maybe it's  a movie or fancy dinner out or is  planning to finish some home project on the agenda for you?
Nearly the end of July ! Blimey the year is just flying by . I was thinking after last night's male card that Father's Day is just around the corner .
This card , inspired by Shirley .....lovely name that , .. Henry, NSW,   is in the current Readers' Gallery of Cardmaking , Stamping & Papercraft. I have changed  the colours and the images but the idea definately came from her card .

Cardstock ;  Mello Moss, Creamy Caramel and Whisper White .

The White card layer is divided into 1/4s    masked  with strips of paper . Using a Stampin' Pastels I sponged  the four colours  into the separated  1/4s .  After stamping the images from Voila la Carte and cutting them out I adhered them as shown with Stampin Dimensials . The greeting is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments . I used Markers to add a dash of colour . The little coffee beans at bottom of card are from a 'Judith ' stamp.
Before layering onto Creamy Caramel , I sponged the white edges with Basic Brown ink ,
Creating a card for a man is always a challenge but I am pleased with this one as I know some one who
does not play sport or fish or reads but who loves his coffee and lunches . Maybe you do too?
Any way thank you staying right to the end and hope you like the card.
                          Cheers Shirley-anne

Celebrate You

Hello and welcome . Here in Adelaide it is still cool but today the sun is shining. .and the air is not damp.  So quite a pleasant day really. Hope that your day,  wherever you are , is as comfortable .
I am checking my letter box every day now till I get that 'Branch Out" stamp set from Annabellestamps.
If you are quick you may still be in time to try for the last preview.
http://annabellestamps.blogspot.com/2010/07/preview-4-take-cake.html

Today's card is for one of Doug's  male  friends, who is quite a " handy man " and often helps others with odd jobs. Hope he likes it .
I also like it for the Sunday workshop as I think the ladies might like to skip " pretty cards " for once.
Recipe.
Cardstock;  Soft Suede, Ruby Red, Mellow Moss and dsp, 'Close To Cocoa'.
Sets, Totally Tool and A Little Birthday Cheer.
Ink, Soft Suede
Accessories;     Soft Suede Ribbon
                          Antique Brass buckle from
                       Hodgepodge Hardware.
Mini Glue dots , Snail adhesive,
                         Rhinestones from stash

It certainly is a little harder to create something interestingly suitable for a man but I am really pleased with the way  this one has turned out . Now only one more card for Sunday and then I will start on Tuesday's .
Catch you again soon , thanks for calling in .
                                                     Cheers  Shirley-Anne

Simply ..Friend

Wow , am really late tonight . Waffled on for  most of the day browsing magazines,  with a few visitors as well. But I could not go another day without sharing with you the news . I won this new set from http://annabellestamps.blogspot.com/ and all I had to do was visit each  team member's blog and leave a comment . This is taken from the blog itself.   "This set has some great sentiments and designs created by Jasmine to suit many occasions." Thank you so much and I just can't wait to see them in the flesh so to speak.
Now I did make a card  for Sunday so I will show  it   now.

Clean and simple . The card base is from  Apricot Appeal with Rose Red and Whisper White layers all SU. I made a paper template of White square and in each quarter I tore a rough circle and  sponged each in various coloured inks. Then I stamped, in stronger colours ,  the flower outlines, from Hero Arts set  Pop Petals. . In the centre of white layer I drew short lines and added a black rhinestone . Under the layers on card front I stamped the greeting "Friends" from SU set Friendly Flowers.                      Inks used were , Creamy Caramel, Pumpkin Pie, Baja Breeze, Pacific Point, Markers , Cameo Coral and real Red.
Hope that you like it .Catch you tomorrow with the rest of Sunday workshop cards, And thanks again to
http://annabellestamps.blogspot.com/  for the chance to win the set ' Branch Out"
Still time to enter for the last set .
Cheers for now Shirley-Anne

because nice matters

Sweet little card isn't it?
Hello welcome to my place . Hi and hugs,  Michelle hope your feeling better now .
This will be for Tuesday's  craft day . Well one out of three needed any way so two more to go .
Recipe . Cardstock,.....Certainly Celery, Regal Rose , So Safron , Whisper White and bashful Blue. All SU
Stamp sets, ......A flower For All Seasons. Tiny Tags , Sweet Little Sentiments
           Inks ,................Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip.
Accessories,.....1 3/4" circle punch , Brads, Stamp-ma-jig, paper snips , watercolour pencils SU.

Was a little fiddly with the image but the result was pleasing .
I stamped basket onto Whisper White and cut out. Stamped again on scrap Bashful Blue  and Regal Rose and cut out the flower heads only .  I then adhered them onto those,  on first image . I punched circle and adhered image to it . I coloured leaves , basket and bird with the watercolour pencils . Then I added the greeting and the image to the Regal Rose piece.
The So Safron layer  has been stamped  randomly with flower sprig before placing the image tag on  with brads.
I then layered all onto card front.

Sometimes everything just falls into place nicely , yes?
So , hope you are all heading for a wonderful week . Thanks for popping in . I'll see you again soon , Cheers Shirley-anne

Feminine cards

Hello,  great to see you here . Please , while you're here,  I want you to know that I really appreciate any and all comments , so before you leave , let me know where you are and I can and will visit you too.

Today I spent quite a long time placing inserts into cards that I have made over the last week or so . Some were blank but a few have stamped greetings and although it was time consuming I am glad I have them  now bagged and put away .

I did , however , manage two cards this evening . Created card bases from SU Lavender Lace .
The rest of the recipe is from my stash , some of which I have had for YONKS and can't remember their origin. Sorry .

Much of my stash I bought before I realised I would be sharing my creations so did not keep  records .
The bow is from Bella Ribbon Bowz.

I liked this card in particular because I only had
enough of the butterfly paper to make this small panel and there was a spare butterfly on the scrap left that was the same so that I could cut it out and 3D it . Now that I am looking at the card I think that I will place some gems/ bling on it .

And the difference is .....

Well there you go . Hope that you enjoyed the visit .
See you soon , cheers Shirley-Anne

Christmas card collection

Hello everyone , welcome and thanks for calling in.
Yesterday I made several Christmas cards but could not scan them because some had kindyglitz on them which took a while to dry .
I was inspired by Michelle's cards,  in which she created her own stamped background . I have used SU sets Circle Circus and Seeing Spots with SU inks Real Red , Garden Green and Pacific Point stamped onto Whisper White and cut into panels .

Using different  card stock /dsp scraps and SU Timeless Type Junior Alphabet I adhered JOY to bottom of card....This one has glitter on letters .

While this one has JOY made out of  dsp.

If unsure about how neatly you can align  the letters you can opt to stagger them as I have to create a fun effect which, in this case  I thought was in keeping with the fun panel.

The alphabet is a great way to use up really small pieces of card and paper scraps as you don't have to cover the whole die if you don't need all the letters on it for your project.
And the embossing  folders don't need to have full coverage of card / paper either. Here on this card the panel scrap was embossed as is , only needing to be trimmed at the bottom .
The red ribbon scraps ,  too small to create a bow, were  just enough  to lay behind SU  1 3/4" punched circle . The lower casing letters fitted inside circle just right and I glittered these too . The star was made using SU small star punch .

Was on a roll yesterday with other projects completed but they will appear on another posting as I thought that I would place all the Christmas cards on this post . That way if you are following the challenge to make 50 Christmas cards by 1st December set by Robyn
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=19340
you can see all mine under my label Christmas Wishes found on side bar.

This last card for the day involved a little more measuring and cutting . It began as a DL sized card . SU  Old Olive is the card base with dsp and Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White additions. SU stamp set , Greetings Galore image  used in two parts .
I just measured 2.5 cms from bottom  right side and cut to that point from top right corner. I stamped tree image twice on white , cut one out and layered direct onto the other . Just to add dimension .
I made two asymmetric squares [Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White ] and adhered it as shown with Stampin' Dimensials. The words from same image I stamped onto a rectangle of Pumkin Pie and added a brad to left side then adhered with Stampin' Dimensials as well.

Well that was a long post wasn't it?  Still I hope you were interested  and enjoyed your visit.
I love having you here so let me know that you visited by leaving a message which I will
take as an invite to visit your Blog.
See you soon , cheers Shirley-Anne

jac paper and mosaics inspiration

Hi  every-one. All had a good day have you? Hope so.
I have had a particularly good day . Doug and I went out  for our customery coffee  and shopping early. And after completing household  duties , I played around with scrap papers , Jac paper and Mod Podge.

Thanks Ally for the challenge you have thrown out to me .

“ I have an idea for a card using different (colour related) shapes of card for a background, probably put on jac paper,” Said she, in email . Well I hunted through Split Coast Stampers for technique then tried it for myself .
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/stainedmosaic/
Well I have tried this before using jac paper Mod Podge and serviettes but this time used some patterned paper from SU Patterns Pack. Firstly I dabbed all over paper with light coloured ink , then I tore the paper into small odd shaped pieces . I used darker shade of same ink to edge of pieces.
Taking a piece
of jac paper just smaller than C6 card front ,
I took off top cover to reveal sticky top.

I placed pieces of paper randomly over sticky jac paper, overlapping each piece and the edges.

Using Mod Podge,  I coated the lot to seal . .now here’s where I missed a step . I should have precut to size required first and inked cut edges before coating . I left project for a while to dry Mod Podge .

Carefully, I peeled backing off underside of jac paper and layered onto green card base .

And to embellish the card front I stamped image from SU set Nature's Nest, onto some green scrap card in Chocolate Chip. I stamped same image again on white card scrap and paper pieced it over 1st image .
And here it is , finished

Hope you found it interesting .
I'll try another one soon to see if I can do better.
Thanks for calling in . Cheers for now  Shirley-Anne

Happy Birthdays

Brrr! It is very cold , windy and showery here .And there is more to come tomorrow .
As long as the power does not go off I shall stay in my craft room . Hope that you all stay high , dry and warm then . Do you have plenty to do to keep your self occupied during colder days?
I, myself ,have been creative today with 3 cards for Sunday session.

This first card   is another example of my style , I think. Simple, quick and easy .
Recipe.  White Gloss card SU
SU  Stamp sets ..Carte Postale, Autumn Days , Tiny Tags,
                                Teeny Tiny Sentiments .
SU Inks...           Handsome Hunter, Green Galore, Baja
Breeze, Brocade Blue, Pixie Pink and
                            Basic Brown.
Scrap paper for template for shapes to sponge with colour.
Paper Snips to paper piece bird.
Some one asked why I used so many inks [ colours] on one card ..
   My reply " because I can "

Second card

This card is basic as well . I really need to use up the mountain of dsp  and    cardstock I have on hand.
Using various circle punches I used SU Cottage Wall dsp and layered them as shown,  onto some canvas textured,  pastel coloured cardstock from core'dinations.
The greeting is from SU , Birthday Wish, inked in Elegant Eggplant.

And lastly the third card .

An SU punch  , Boho Blossoms,
again used here with various scraps of cardstock.
Stamp sets..SU , Fifth Avenue Floral, Vintage
                      Vogue, Cheery Chat.
Ink ..SU, Regal Rose.
SU Cardstock  Certainly Celery as card base.

Made standard C6 size card . Folded front of card back to side fold . Covered the panel with dsp. Added the rectangle tag for the greeting so that only about half was adhered to the panel  with the larger flower. I added a smaller flower to the bottom of tag and some more to the left of the inside back of card.

I am really happy with all three today . I think that they are all different and special in their own way.
I do hope that it has been worth your visit and if you leave your  link I'd love to visit you too.
Cheers for now and  catch you soon , Shirley-Anne

Season's Greetings

Good afternoon all. Thank you for calling in .
I have for you today another two Christmas cards for Robyn's challenge to make 50 Christmas cards by 1st December.
her Album is here on SCS site .
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=19340
First card for me is from Old Olive and Whisper White SU cardstock . I used BigShot and die,  Lots of Tags.to create apeture in top of white card , then used a scrap of Old Olive to make another tag from which I cut out the centre oval . I then layered that onto white tag.
I embossed white only part way leaving area at base free for stamping greeting from Many Merry Messages in Bashful Blue ink . I wrapped ribbon , Old Olive SU around white layer and secured at back , made bow and adhered with sticky dot . The cut out tag was placed off centre of apeture . I stamped  dove in Bashful Blue on scrap white , cut out and placed on tag .
Thank you to  Miss Boo (a.k.a. jen70) for the inspiration .
My second card for day  is my favourite . Made from
Sweet Slumber Speciality DSP. SU
I repeated the card  front as smaller layer with Brocade Blue layer and the Whisper White , after I stamped tree from Greetings Galore
which I coloured with various Markers. I adhered whole panel with Stampin'Dimensials.

Which do you like better ?
Thanks for popping in and if you let me know where you are I'll visit you too.
Cheers for now , Shirley-Anne

Brayering and embossing folder

Hi again . This is my 2nd posting for today . Please scroll down to first posting , after this,  and see what I have to brag about!

Tonight after making one of the kits for next Sunday's workshop , I recalled  some one asked me about brayering and the embossing folders .
This is the card  I am talking about . I like to reinforce a technique
shown at a workshop in another small way in another card  at the next workshop  so that I can be sure that everyone is confident with it . thus I have used 2 step stampin again . But for the background layer I have used the brayer.
I used a Provocraft embossing folder , woodgrain in appearance , the Big Shot,  Chocolate Chip ink , the brayer and some Creamy Caramel cardstock.

Ink the brayer   and roll over top part of folder till all covered . Then I placed cardstock in position and rolled through Big Shot in the usual way .

    Recipe..
Cardstock, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Creamy Caramel.
Sets, Life Definitions, Botanical Blooms.
Ink, Rose Red , Chocolate  Chip                                             Rhinestone brads ,  Stampin' Dimensials all  above SU
Thank you for browsing here tonight and catch you again soon .
Cheers Shirley-Anne
