Clocks and Chooks

I had another Circle Journal arrive today .
This one from Elizabeth from Victoria .
This is her front cover .
I think that these are doilys .
Love the pearl string around centre  lighter shade of lavender.
Elizabeth has indicated that her journal is about two of her favourite collectables. Those being Clocks and Chooks .

It was easier to do the clock page I think .
But all in all quite happy with my two pages .

Page one .

Page two

Hope that Elizabeth will like these pages . Can't wait to get mine back .
Only waiting on two more journals  I think , then the circle will be completed.
I hope that you have found the shared pages interesting .

Healthy Thoughts

Hello and welcome to my room . At last both Doug and I are as well as one would expect to be at our age .                       Today I had to make a card for a friend who is on the sick list and is too far away for me to visit . Now my friend is not one for frilly flowery sentiments or embellishments so creating a card for her is easier for me . This new set from SU from the Autumn / Winter mini catalogue came in handy.                Fruit is in sink with healthy wishes isn't it ?                                                          Cardstock used was Apricot Appeal , Choc  Chip, Whisper White and DSP  SU .                        Fruity image is Sweet & Sour set SU.           Stampin'Up Markers were used for colour.         Basic Black ink used for greeting.                     Brad and ribbon from SU.
I agree that it is a little different but I am happy with it .
Before I go , just a quick plug for my Daughter's blog . If you love things " more than cards" then you will not be sorry you visited her pages .                                                                                                          Here's the link   http://michelle-pinkpaperparadise.blogspot.com/                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                .   .

Make a Wish

Hi viewers, hope the new week is progressing well for you.
Isn't  it funny where inspiration can come from ?
I have just received a new batch of recruiting brochures  from SU and on the cover  are a couple of cards .  The images are also featured in the IBC , page 111.  Here is my take on one of them , the layout is the same just different sentiment.
Kraft is the card base . With Whisper White , Pretty in Pink , Choc Chip and Sage Shadow SU , completing front. Rub-on sentiments from Eastern Elegance SU . Ribbon , SU. Spiral Punch , SU.
Hope that you like it.

Soft Suede for Autumn cards

I really love this new colour , Soft Suede. Here I have tried to keep colours subdued . Materials for both cards are as follows . Soft Suede as card base .
First card  here  I used Kraft  and Choc Chip card , SU , Ribbon , SU. Stamp, Medalion SU.
Ink, Creamy Caramel  SU and  Marker, Chocolate Chip.
The tag behind flower is from Sizzlits 4-pack dies SU
I wanted to divide the top mat from the part image of the medalion so I created  faux stitching , just below it.

With Card 2 on the right I managed to find  some scrap DS  paper with autumn leaves  of  which I used both sides in two layers on card front after edging with Creamy Caramel.
The greeting,  inked in Basic Brown, is from Stamp-It.
That is  layered onto Kraft card , then Soft Suede before adhering onto card front.
The lower strip of kraft card is edged with unknown punch, over which I placed  Mellow Moss grosgrain
ribbon , SU. I finished card with flower embellishment with SU brad in centre.
If it is a fine day here tomorrow , Saturday , Doug and I might gopher [ he gophers and I walk] venture out for a long walk to Thorndon Park which is about 3 k's from us for a picnic lunch . So no craft tomorrow I daresay.
Hope you like these I shared tonight . Have a great weekend , be safe , be happy .
Cheers Shirley-anne

70th Birthday Card for Male

Hi there. Hope that you and yours are well ,escaping the the flu virus that seems to be rampant here.
At least the worst is over for hubby and myself.

Choc Chip , Creamy Caramel , Going Grey , Brocade Blue and Bashful Blue chosen . Inks  Basic Brown and Not Quite Navy.
Birthday tag is SU Lots of Tags Dies.
Stamps, SU Three Thoughts and EK Brush Numbers and

This is how I completed the inside with a computer generated greeting .

Nothing fancy here but the recipiant is not a flower man
so I  think he will like it , as I  hope you do too.

Two for today

Hi there and welcome . Only two cards today and not one is using Tota-ally Tess!
I went back to the stash of rub-ons for this card . Safe to say this is a 10 minute card.
Choc Chip card stock DSP , both SU .
Greeting Rub-on Eastern Elegance, SU
And a vintage flower embellishment . And 4 little rhinestones on centre panel.

This one is  my fav. for day because I love earthy tones .Card stock is Soft Suede , Sahara Sand, Creamy Caramal.SU.            Inks are basic brown and Creamy Caramal .                              Stamp sets are Asian Artistry and Autumn Days.                        Ribbon is from SU, Ribbon Originals.                                         Definately  will find a male on my family/friend list  with a birthday coming up soon to give this one to .                                            This is what I love about card making . Each session is different .  When I come to my desk  in the afternoon It's always like ...a new canvas. And I  never know what is going to inspire me for the day . Would it be the card I saw in the post office as I waited in line , or would it be the birds that were chattering in the park or some colour/ pattern on the teatowel I hung on the line.                   Where-ever  the inspiration comes from , I am always happy to share it with you in the form of  small works of ART.      Thank you for visiting .

My Friend Tote-ally Tess

Hi again , 2nd posting in one day ! So please scroll down to see my first card, wont you.         It is just a phase I think but I am getting hooked on this little lady and her wardrobe .           Still using SU card stock  and DSP.     Stamp set Tote-ally Tess. Am submitting this one for a challenge at a blog I love to visit ,  http://mess2magic.blogspot.com/2010/04/crafty-sentiments-challenge-13-true.html
The challenge was to use some blue on your card .

I stamped image onto Barely Banana card stock then onto  Bashful Blue and then onto DSP . I cut out shirt and slacks and adhered them over main image . Stamped the bag onto scrap red and cut out placing it  over Tess 's arm . I 3D whole piece onto Whisper White embossed card then adhered it to Pacific Point card leaving small border. A strip of DSP was placed on left side of card front . A bit of ric rac on the left of image piece was  added before adhering onto card front with 3D foam tape.
Greeting is from set Teeny Tiny Sentiments .
Hope that  this suits the challenge and that my visitors like the card too.

No Colouring

Hello and welcome to my room . Actually it's the  best way to visit me at present,  as I am still suffering from the after effects of the flu virus , while MMM is requiring a lot of TLC as he now suffers it .

It has been about five days since I have posted,  sorry.
But today I have this card to share . Using the new set Tote- ally Tess and all SU card stock I have dressed Tess without any colouring .
Going Grey hair, DSP green shirt , I think Old Olive slacks . The apron was stamped in basic black on whisper White . Tess was stamped in basic brown on Whisper White card and again on the other card stock so that just the item of clothing was then cut out and laid onto main image . I then added the little hand made card .
The greeting stamped in basic brown on Whisper White was layered onto Going grey then basic black. Added flower embellishments finished the card . Oh ...may be a little colouring  as I went over her lips with red marker and her shoes in black.

This technique really adds dimension and I love it .
I think too , that my workshop ladies will enjoy dressing Tess in their favourite colours.
Hope that you found it interesting as well.

Angela's Journal

Remember an earlier post on  the Circle journals that I and a few friends are creating pages for? Well  Angela's turned up today with a request for "fashion Pages" please.

Now this would have to be my hardest challenge of all time ! For three reasons ..
1;   I am not a scrapper
2;   I have no fashion sense at all
3;    I am not an embellisher, or  a great colour coordinator .
But this is for fun and my friends are KIND .

Here is the front cover of Angela's Journal.
So artistic . So flowery and lacey.

Now for the pages I 've just completed . The first page was reasonably easy as I had several really old dress patterns stored in the back of the linen press. Now I can't swear to their age but I think its late 60's early seventies. I cut out the ladies from the front of the packets . The papers and ricrac  are from my stash of scraps and the buttons are from SU..
Now the second page was harder. I had some vintage photos and papers , flowers and stickers . . I  love the corner embellishments . This page was more about the hats of yesteryear . Before my time of course but I love these hats . They are femininity personified . I meant that this page was harder because there is a need to add more embellishments and try as I might dingly , sparkly or loopy things just arn't me! But I love seeing them on other people's creations .   I certainly hope that Angela likes them .                    And I hope you do too.

Distressing Vintage look

Hello friends. I  hope that you are all enjoying this special time in good health and with  good cheer.

I was visiting one of my favourite blogs today from Sue , where she shared a distressed creation. Mmmm.. now that is not as dramatic as it sounds .
After you have looked at what Sue inspired me to create , go on to check out this following link to  her distressing entry for today

http://a-consuming-passion.blogspot.com/2010/04/sassy-cheryls5-distressed-country-girl.html

I did not have a contempory image to use so I went vintage instead . the image is cut from a  Le Romantique Collection.
Papers from  docrafts Papermania. A frame  and flower embellishments from my stash of unknowns . Ribbon and brad from SU.  Textured blue card base unknown source.
Greeting is Rub-on from SU.

I imagine that this lady is reflecting on someone near and dear and sending truly heartfelt wishes .
I hope that even if distressing or vintage is not your " thing"  you will like my creation .
Let me know what you think and give me an insight as to what your style is by sharing your blog so I can visit you .
                           Cheers Shirley-Anne
