Sharing a card on Elite Challenges

Hi there.
Recently I browsed through the blog of Elite challenges and found some beautiful handy work in many of the posts . Hopefully this card I made tonight might be suitable for one of the challenges , SC3. It was a tagged sketch by Alisa Tilsner. A really old challenge from 2nd June 2007. Here I used Pretty in Pink card stock, Certainly Celery ,  DSP Tea Party, 5/8th Pink Pirouette ribbon . Ink was Handsome Hunter. For the fussy cutting of flower I used Paper Snips and word window punch for the greeting from the stamp set , Short & Sweet. I 3D the centre of the flower using Stampin'Dimensionals and the snail adhesive to place ribbon. Hope that it is suitable for the challenge , just have to work out how to get it there.  In any case I get to share it with all who browse here .

Next Tuesday's make and takes

The first card , thinking of you ,
is from Lovely Lilac
Card stock with panels of Ruby Red  and Confetti White.
Not sure if you have picked it up but I have 2nd generation stamped flower at top of card . I used
confetti white instead of whisper white
cardstock because I wanted to achieve
a muted image effect. I used markers to colour image.
Stamp sets used were
Friendly Flowers, Live your Dream,
Trendy trees

Card #2 is from Really Rust

My favourite colours are from the

Earth Elements range .
I like the combined colours of Really Rust
and Chocolate Chip. I used large background stamp
‘ Sanded’ on the card front and W/White strip
before overstamping flower twig from set
‘ Artfully Asian’ . I distressed top and bottom
edges of it before adhering to choc chip strip.
Best Wishes greeting from Vintage Labels set.
I used Word Window punch over words to create
strip to place over bottom of stem.

I have almost used all this DSP

‘Tea Party’ which I love . Not fussy
cutting the flowers this time but using
it as a background , matted onto
Whisper White then on the Sage Shadow
card. I stamped greeting, Best Wishes, onto
scrap W/White In Garden Green .
I placed this behind the oval punch out
in the regal Rose strip after which I used
the Horizontal Slot to punch either side
So that I could pass ribbon through.
Two flower with brad centre embellishments
Were then placed on either side .

I really enjoyed making these today hoping that you like them too.

Remember, I asked for Help?

Hi there and welcome back. Did you see an entry here the other day , where I asked for help in using the Carousel scalloped circle notes and I showed an example ?
Well Trish sent me an email of a tutorial that she had seen . She did not make the item shown below and to the person who made it and the tutorial , I will acknowledge you if you contact me .
If any one would like the tutorial I will try to send it to you if asked .
This a carousel notes purse. Isn't it sweet ?
May be  the young ones now use the word ..COOL?
I remember when I was 12 or so,  the rage was ..every thing was  ' TERRIFIC ', good or bad .
Any way , thank you Trish , for sharing that with me .

Some thing else that I wanted to share with you ,  was a gift that My Daughter sent to me for " just because'.

What a treasure! You will see her blog on my link list .

My pages for Jacinda's journal

Today I received Jacinda's Journal and quickly completed my two pages .
Not too clever at scanning and uploading pictures in right order . But it's not life threatening so I will carry on .
This first picture is actually second page .
Introducing Doug. And acknowledging that he supports my love of paper art.

The first page , the second picture ,is including a photo of us at a cafe enjoying our morning coffee .

We do a lot together and this tradition that we have started is just one of the many activities we enjoy sharing .
Hope that you like the pages not that I am a scrapbooker by any means but I do like writing !

hidden message and punches

Sorry about last night , just could not stay up to complete uploading pictures of workshop cards ,
Any way here  are the other two for this Tuesday .
Using SU products.
Starting with a Very Vanilla card base, I adhered two strips , one Certainly Celery and Lavenda Lace at the bottom of the card. Using oval  and scalloped oval punches with stamp set , Oval All, I made the greeting tag and set it  over the strips.
Then I punched,  from each of the colours ,  a 1 1/4" circle and over that  negative I punched a 1 3/8'
As I adhered each circle frame  to card I stamped the small flower image within it . I used Markers to colour stamped flower.

I made a similar card the other day and loved the  simple layout so hope you are not ' HO  HUMMING  '  right  now.
First of these is this one . Using  SU products
I used Chocolate chip , Bashful Blue , Very Vanilla, and Going Grey card stock.
Inks , Pacific Point, Bashful Blue and chocolate chip.
Stamp sets were , No One Like You and Priceless
some hodgepodge hardware
and some blue  gingham ribbon and twinkles  from my " other " stash.

Stampin'around wheel.

Well  , hi there . I am happy to see you here .
Tonight,  I'd like to share, with you,  the  next lot of make and takes
for my 'Round-a-bout' ladies. Thats the name of the Church's  venue for our craft day.
Might have 8 ladies on my table on Tuesday so 3 cards x 8 thats 24 kits . So sometimes it can be a challenge for me to come up with suitable ideas for
them.
The first tonight is the " Wonderful" card .
Here I used Card stock,
Chocolate Chip , Bashful Blue,
Ink was Basic Brown
Stamps were Stampin Around, Garden Annuals, Circle Circus and Wonderful Favourites.
Accessories..SU  Scallop Circle.
Stampin' Dimensionals were used to lift the scallop circle image off the strip. I made sure that the inside points of the scallop circle were over the top of the scallop of the stamped  image and then I used a dauber to ink the edges of the scallop circle.
I think that the ladies will enjoy using the Stampin'around  Wheel and the punch.

But as it is so late now , I'll put the other two up tomorrow .

Actually we are placing 2 pages in each. My first page is an introduction of my Husband , Doug, and myself . Then the other page is a journal entry . The images at the bottom are supposed to represent my hobby . One is a miniture card and the other a scrapbook page .

On the first page I used a background of "faded flowers '' SU dsp. All the leaves in Autumn tones as I tried to convey that we are in the Autumn of our lives .

Michelle's pages

Michelle has sent photos of her two pages for my journal .
I love them . Especially the envelope and the fussy cutting of the flowers.
Her journal note looks great with the edges inked and the flowers at the bottom.

Not bad for a novice card maker of 12 months or so . Thanks Michelle well done . See the recipe on her blog http://michelle-pinkpaperparadise.blogspot.com/

Workshop projects

The first card here on left is showing old favourite set of mine , Cheers to you.
This set is another that I have not seen used a lot.

Here I have used stamp sets, A Wish For Peace and A Happy Heart.

Next Tuesday I'd like to give the girls some different folds .

This card has a gate fold .

Front view here and inside .
Another set using SU double sided paper. I used the Summer mini stamp set
Happy Moments

In another card I used stamp set Pocket Silhouettes.

One of the joys of using SU products is that cardstock and D/S papers coordinate so well .

punch template

When I first joined SU a fellow crafter gave me a punch template, which I have used a lot and so I made one for my downline , Terri.
Because there are quite a few punches I cut an A4 size cardstock in half and punched around edges then laminated to finish. Here is the result .

The Journal Beginning

Well, tomorrow is postal day for my journal . I have completed my first entry . I am guessing it will be back in about 6 to 8 weeks .

I will continue to create pages , though , while it is away and will share them with you .

Do you remember your first card ?

My Journal

Sunday 7th

Had some time this afternoon to spend on this journal.
Had to create a set of " instructions " for the girls who are going to contribute to my journal.
Mind you, I don't want to stifle their originality at all. Just need to have some sort of continuity. The idea set by Andre is for us [ 8 girls in total ] to set the tone / subject of our journal , then after completing first two pages, send it off to the next name on the list.
I will take out some of the pages so that I can complete some here , while it is away.
When I get the journal back I can then place the pages in order.

So this is what I came up with ..

Hi there girls .

Will you use two pages together for your entry to my journal .
As I have on the first two .
Small photo of ….you and work area..or
You and family..or
You and project you’ve completed
On the top page , with a little detail about the photo

You get the idea .

Then on the other page , a little about you . How , when you began craft.
GET TO KNOW YOU sort of information . Like how we connected, what
inspires you , who inspires you , your favourite tools , inks, papers etc.

But most of all can I please have your best tip for fellow creators.

AND LASTLY

I will be posting this onto my blog ONLY if I have your permission to do so .
So please will you either email me ...shirlb1@bigpond.com or leave a separate note in the journal in that regard.

Thank you girls . I cant wait to start this challenge .

Shirley Barber.

Hi there , great to have your company once more .

This year I have begun another challenge .

As I have been watching my Daughter, Michelle, begin her journey into the world of paper craft ,
and art in general , it occurred to me that we are,
in art , walking together even though we are at different stages
of our lives .
Spring for her and Autumn for me.
The purpose for this journal is record my recollections on how I began my creating, where I am now and also to include some of the many talented people , who have enriched my life .
So here is the cover and just inside .
I have not, as yet , decided on the name for my journal for the front . the photo was taken in October 2009 when I attended the Regionals in Adelaide for Stampin'Up. Inside the cover is a photo of myself and the prologue.
I hope that you will follow my journal as it grows .
Shirley-Anne
